Some things are happening

OK, so things are happening... well, starting to happen. Where the roof was leaking, my cousin put a waterproof coating on the roof. It is not a permanent solution. The roof will need replacing, but at least it buys us time. The other issue is that the first snow has fallen on Psiloritis (otherwise known as Mount Ida - the highest mountain on Crete), not in the village, but it means winter is starting and no building work can start. I must focus on getting all the paperwork done so that when spring comes, work can get going right away.

Now that my marriage has been registered, I have applied to renew my passport. Once I have that, I can get the tax number, pay the taxes due and move the house into my name. Then, I can apply for permits to start the work. Things are moving, but just slowly.

If you have a house in such disrepair, you can apply for an emergency permit, and that will allow the roof to be fixed (at your expense). Being so close to winter and with our builder finishing another project, we decided to coat the roof and permanently fix it when the weather is better. My cousin says the coating works, and I trust him implicitly.

Now, I will chase my brother-in-law for the plans. I want those all in order before spring hits. I feel like we will slowly get there
